The Challenge

Flexsave for Computeによる自動的なコスト削減

CandidはAWS利用におけるコスト削減の余地を見極めたいと考えていました。そこでDoiTが提案したのがFlexsave for Computeです。commitmentsで未カバーのAWS EC2 workloadsに対し、割引レートを自動で特定・適用する仕組みで、エンジニアを手作業のトラッキングから解放します。少人数チームのCandidは、コンピュートのworkloadsを毎週何時間もかけて再構成したり、commitmentsを監視して常に最適価格を確保したりする必要がなくなりました。

CREの知見によるストレージ構成の再設計

DoiTとの取り組みを始めた当初、Candidは歯科医が患者の症例を登録するアプリケーションを大規模なRDSデータベース上で運用しており、これが大きなコスト要因となっていました。DoiTのCloud Reliability Engineersとの議論を経て、CandidチームはRDSコンテナのサイズを縮小することを決定し、RDSデータベースの支出を大きく抑えました。さらにDoiTのCREは、古いバージョンのファイルを不必要に保持していたデフォルト設定を洗い出し、CandidのAmazon S3ストレージコストの管理にも貢献しました。
