Get the full cost report to people who never log in
Report subscriptions in Cloud Intelligence™ can now attach the report as a PDF, with the chart and the data table in one file (available now for all customers).
By François PASQUET
A report subscription used to send a chart snapshot and a link. That works for the people who live in the console. It doesn't work for the CFO who wants the monthly numbers in their inbox, or for the customer you send a cost breakdown to every month. They see a picture of a trend, and the actual figures sit behind a login they don't have.
You can now attach the report itself to the subscription email, as a PDF with the chart, the full data table and a summary page. The numbers arrive with the email, can be searched in the inbox, and can be forwarded as they are.
What you get
- A PDF on every scheduled email. Tick "Include a PDF attachment" when you create or edit a report subscription. Each delivery carries the chart, a paginated data table and a summary page.
- Control over what goes in. By default the PDF includes the data table, the annotations in the report's time range and a summary of the report filters. Leave out any of them, for example the filters summary when the PDF goes to someone outside your team.
- "Download as PDF" for one-off sharing. The same PDF is in the report's export menu, for every report type, when you need it once and not on a schedule.
- A check before the first run. "Send test now" sends the subscription to you right away, so you can see the PDF before your recipients do.
Large reports are handled for you: if the data is too big for the attachment, the PDF includes a link to the full report in the console.
Get started
- Open a report and select Subscribe, then create or edit a subscription. See Manage report subscriptions.
- Tick Include a PDF attachment and choose what the PDF includes.
- Use Send test now to check the result. See Send a test delivery.
- For a one-off file, use Export report > Download as PDF. See Export reports.
PDF attachments are available now for all Cloud Intelligence™ customers. This started from a customer whose founder wanted the monthly report in his inbox without logging in. If you send reports to people like that, tell us what the PDF still needs to make it the report they read.
