questions
How do we connect Snowflake?
Open the Snowflake card in the integrations catalog and follow the wizard: run the setup script in a Snowflake worksheet, then enter your organization ID and account ID from your Snowflake URL and test the connection. Repeat the steps for each account you want to connect.
What access does the connection need?
The script creates a role with the ORGANIZATION_USAGE_VIEWER, GOVERNANCE_VIEWER, ORGANIZATION_BILLING_VIEWER, USAGE_VIEWER and SECURITY_VIEWER database roles, a user configured for key-pair authentication, and a warehouse for our queries. You run it with Snowflake administrator permissions.
How much history do we get, and how fresh is it?
We import the last 6 months of billing and usage data on connect, and the first import takes up to an hour. After that, we query your billing views multiple times a day.
Which dimensions and labels are available?
Organization, account, service type, rating type, balance source and billing type map to standard Cloud Analytics dimensions. Labels add warehouse, database, user, query hash, service level, QUERY_TAG and Cortex AI model, function, agent and user, so Snowflake sits in the same reports as your other providers.
Does the integration add Snowflake cost?
Our queries run on a dedicated warehouse several times a day for about 15 minutes each, which usually costs about US$1 per day. You can see the exact charge by filtering a report on that warehouse name.
Can we connect every Snowflake account?
Accounts bought directly or through a marketplace can connect; contracts signed through a Snowflake reseller cannot. The wizard includes a compatibility script you can run first, and each organization can be connected once.
