I want to improve my security in AWS. Where do I start?

I'm used to AWS (or GCP) and I'm trying to learn GCP (or AWS). What are some big differences?
- - AWS IAM roles are similar to Google Cloud's Service accounts. Google's service accounts and AWS IAM role can both be assigned to resources to give them permissions.
- - Google IAM roles are sets of permissions, similar to AWS IAM policies
- - If you need external access to AWS from a service, traditionally you created an IAM user with an access key. Google allows you to create keys for service accounts. These days, IAM Roles Anywhere are recommended, instead of IAM users, to allow external service access to AWS.
I might add a non-network/security answer here eventually. Keep an eye out!

This ticket took so long to "solve". The solution came from my end, and is something that goes against PerfectScale's recommendation from a few months ago. The root cause of the issue is still not solved: PerfectScale cannot detect issues (like OOM / CPU Throttling restarts) it causes itself, even if that leads to app instability. I can't be bothered to spend more time pushing for this on the ticket, but it's an obvious issue from the tool itself. Hope this comment helps the support improving :)

Thanks to Nir and Luis for the support on this one. They didn’t stop at Google’s first explanation and got them to confirm the RBS controller had missed the update. Each update came with exact timestamps from the audit logs and clear steps we could act on. They also flagged the risk on our other shared IPs before Google’s fix and checked the result after every change. That made a confusing problem easy to understand and close safely.
