Meet FREENOW
FREENOW is a multi-mobility app with taxis at its core, and one of Europe's most popular platforms for finding ways to get around in more than 150 cities. Hamburg-based FREENOW is the product of a series of integrations and partnerships with mobility brands and part of a joint venture between Daimler Mobility (now Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG) and The BMW Group. FREENOW offers its users a wide range of vehicles for travel within urban areas and champions both multi-mobility and green mobility in Europe's cities as a Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform.
The Challenge
FREENOW faced multiple AWS infrastructure challenges including IAM policy misconfigurations causing Databricks outages, complex RDS reservation management, OpenSearch inefficiencies, and EKS cluster communication issues. These problems increased engineering toil, impacted SLOs, and made cost predictability difficult. The company was even considering migrating to another cloud provider due to AWS billing complexities and operational challenges.
The Solution
DoiT provided hands-on consultative support through dedicated cloud architects who worked closely with FREENOW's engineering team.
