One link to the report you're actually looking at
Cloud Intelligence™ reports now have live links that follow your edits, plus snapshot links for when you want a frozen copy.
Sharing a Cloud Intelligence™ report has always had a "just look at this" problem. You spend twenty minutes getting the filters right and want a colleague's eyes on it. Until now you had two options. Save the report, name it, open the permissions dialog, add them, and only then send a link. Or, copy a configuration link, which handed them their own copy frozen at the moment you clicked. Fix one filter afterwards and you're sending a second link while the first one quietly drifts out of date.
The new Share button on a report now offers a live link, and the old behavior is still one click away as a snapshot link.
What you get
Copy live link points at your report, not at a copy of its settings. Whoever opens it lands on the same report you're looking at. If they can't already see it, Cloud Intelligence™ adds them as a viewer on the spot, so there's no save, no naming, no permissions dialog in the way. They show up under Manage access like any viewer you'd have added by hand, and you can change or remove that access there.
A report you've shared by live link saves as you go, and everyone holding the link sees the current version. This is the one place where autosave turns on. Every other report keeps the explicit Save button, and drafts stay drafts until you save them.
Copy snapshot link does what the configuration link did before. It captures the report as it is right now and opens as a fresh draft for each person. Your later edits don't touch it. Use it when you want to hand someone a starting point to explore on their own, or pin a specific query so it doesn't move. Links you created before this change, and links to preset reports or reports you can only view, keep behaving as snapshots.
Get started
- Open a report you can edit, select Share in the action bar, and choose Copy live link. The Share reports guide covers both link types.
- Send the link to anyone in your organization with access to the console. They open the report itself, and you'll see them listed under Manage access. See permission-based sharing for how viewer and editor roles work.
- Want a frozen copy instead? Choose Copy snapshot link from the same menu. Details in report configuration links.
Live and snapshot links are available now to everyone using Cloud Intelligence™. This came directly from customers asking for two different things: one team wanted a Google-Docs-style link that's always current, another wanted a URL that holds a query and never moves. Both are in. If you find yourself wanting a third kind, tell your account manager what the workflow was. That's the feedback that shaped this one.
