ETC is a tolling technology provider that has helped states across the U.S., including California, Washington, Texas, Colorado, Illinois, and Louisiana, modernize toll collection systems for more than two decades. The company collects massive amounts of video and images from highways but faced challenges managing this data cost-effectively with on-premises infrastructure.
The Challenge
ETC needed to modernize their on-premises IT infrastructure to cost-effectively manage massive amounts of video and image data from highways. Their existing environment inhibited data management and analytics goals as they expanded to serve more states across the U.S.
The Solution
ETC partnered with DoiT to migrate to Google Cloud, implementing BigQuery, Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud SQL, and Cloud Storage. DoiT provided expert guidance on IAM strategy, Kubernetes adoption, and cloud-native capabilities to accelerate the transformation.

ETC recognized they needed cloud expertise beyond their on-premises knowledge. They chose DoiT as their Google Cloud Premier Partner to navigate the migration. DoiT provided expert guidance on identity and access management protocols and helped ETC adopt Google Kubernetes Engine, enabling faster tolling system implementations.
Modernizing the entire IT stack for advanced analytics
ETC transformed their data management approach using BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage, and Cloud SQL. The migration improved uptime, availability, and data retention capabilities. Environment setup that previously required ten employees for three to four days now takes just two employees three days using GKE and Cloud Load Balancing.
Paving a path toward further improvements
ETC continues leveraging DoiT support for cost optimization and technical guidance. The company is exploring Anthos for application modernization and considering Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and IoT services. The new framework improves integration between infrastructure management teams and developers, enabling bigger thinking about cloud transformation.
