New in Dashboards: Build and edit report widgets without leaving the page

Create a chart, change a filter, swap the chart type, all from the dashboard.

Today, changing a dashboard widget means leaving the dashboard. You open the full report editor, make the change, save a copy, then put the widget back. For adding 1 filter or changing a time range, that is a lot of clicks.

Now you can build and change report widgets without leaving the dashboard.

• Build a widget in place. Click Add, then Quick report. Pick up to 4 metrics, a chart type, your filters and how you want to group, and watch the chart build as you go.
• Change a widget in place. Click the edit icon on any report widget, or pick Edit widget from the menu. Change the filters, the metrics, the chart type or the time range, and save. You stay on the dashboard.
• See it before you save. The widget updates as you change the settings, so there is no guessing.
• 1 dialog for everything. New widgets, copies and edits all go through the same screen.
• Names proposed for you. A name is suggested from what you picked, so your dashboard stays readable without extra work.

This covers the settings teams change most often. 4 widget types cannot be edited this way yet: heatmaps, trend boards, treemaps and calculated metrics. For those, and for any deeper change, the full report editor is still 1 click away.
