Introducing shared payer onboarding in PartnerOps: map and bill at linked-account level

Onboard shared AWS payers, map linked accounts to end customers, and bill at account-level granularity.

By Sam Clark

For resellers with a shared AWS payer (also called a consolidated payer), assigning account cost to individual customers has meant spreadsheets. Linked accounts are tracked by hand, costs are tallied by hand, and the account nobody mapped is the one that turns up at month-end.

PartnerOps now handles shared payers natively at the Reseller level. Link the payer, map its linked accounts to your end customers, and billing follows the mapping. Each mapped customer is a regular tenant with the full Cloud Intelligence™ experience.

  • Link a shared payer: Add your payer with the setup wizard. Create a CUR 2.0 export, deploy the CloudFormation stack, pick the report. Setup is deliberately boring.
  • Map linked accounts: Assign each linked account to an existing end customer on the End cust. mapping page. Add the customer first if it's new. Map several accounts to the same customer in one go with bulk mapping.
  • Bill by customer: Billing and invoicing run against each customer's assigned linked accounts.
  • Spot new accounts: New linked accounts appear in the mapping table as Pending mapping, so you can see what still needs an owner.

To get started, open PartnerOps in the DoiT Console, go to Customers, open your reseller's settings (the gear icon) and open Shared payers. The Shared payers guide walks through each step. You need the Shared Payers Admin permission to link a payer or change mappings.

Available to all resellers using PartnerOps Revenue Management.
