Nach fast 20 Jahren gewachsener und übereinander gelagerter Technologien wollte GoldenRace gezielt jene Bereiche der Cloud-Infrastruktur identifizieren, in denen sich die Performance pro Euro verbessern und unnötiger Engineering-Aufwand vermeiden lässt. Der Betrieb in mehreren Ländern mit zahlreichen Cloud-Accounts machte es jedoch schwer, genau nachzuvollziehen, wo und wofür das Budget für die Cloud-Infrastruktur tatsächlich floss.
DoiT hat GoldenRace dabei unterstützt, im Zuge des Upgrades von AWS Aurora 2 auf Aurora 3 die Datenbanknutzung zu durchleuchten und sowohl Lastspitzen als auch Optimierungspotenziale aufzudecken. Das Unternehmen führte Flexsave for Compute für ein automatisiertes Compute-Management ein, konsolidierte das Reporting über mehrere AWS-Accounts hinweg mit Cloud Intelligence™ und setzte Real-Time Anomaly Detection für eine proaktive Sicherheitsüberwachung ein.

Während des Upgrades von Aurora 2 auf Aurora 3 hat DoiT GoldenRace dabei geholfen, parallel zur Versionsmigration weitere Optimierungspotenziale in der Datenbank aufzudecken. Durch gezielte Empfehlungen zu einzelnen Konfigurationen konnte das Team die Verarbeitungsgeschwindigkeit erhöhen und die Datenbank flexibler auf schwankende Lasten reagieren lassen – ohne zusätzlichen operativen Aufwand. GoldenRace führte Flexsave for Compute für ein dauerhaftes, automatisiertes Compute-Management ein. DoiT empfahl zudem Aurora I/O-Optimized in Verbindung mit MySQL 8.0, um die Anforderungen noch passgenauer abzudecken.
Unterschiedliche regionale Vorschriften und Datenschutzgesetze führen dazu, dass GoldenRace mehrere AWS-Accounts parallel betreibt. Das Unternehmen wollte stärker datengetrieben entscheiden – doch das Zusammenführen der Daten über alle Accounts hinweg nahm Monat für Monat mehrere Tage in Anspruch. Über Cloud Intelligence™ und Cloud Analytics wurden diese Datensätze gebündelt und liefern nun einen klaren Blick auf das gesamte Unternehmen. Manuelles Sammeln und Aufbereiten von Daten entfällt weitgehend – Zeit, die jetzt ins Wachstum fließt.
Mit Real-Time Anomaly Detection erkennt GoldenRace Kosten- und Sicherheitsanomalien automatisch und kann sie korrigieren, bevor sie eskalieren. Dank der automatisierten Prüfung muss das Team die workloads nicht permanent im Blick behalten – taucht eine Schwachstelle im System auf, gibt es sofort eine Warnung. So lassen sich gängige Schwachstellen (CVEs) schon vor dem Go-Live abfangen. Konkretes Beispiel: In einer mit einem Drittanbieter-Tool erstellten Variable wurde eine Schwachstelle entdeckt. Anomaly Detection von DoiT in Kombination mit Lacework identifizierte die CVE und lieferte konkrete Empfehlungen zur Behebung, bevor sie in die Produktion gelangte.
GoldenRace hat die Migration auf AWS Aurora 3 in nur zwei Monaten mitten in der umsatzstarken Feiertagssaison abgeschlossen – bei minimaler Downtime. Mit Flexsave for Compute sanken die Cloud-Kosten pro Server sofort um 3 %, mit zunehmender Skalierung auf über 5 %. Das monatliche Reporting, das früher mehrere Tage gedauert hat, ist mit dem DoiT Dashboard in einer Stunde erledigt. GoldenRace baut die Zusammenarbeit mit DoiT weiter aus und erschließt zusätzliche Optimierungspotenziale – unter anderem beim Right-Sizing der Kubernetes-Cluster.
