DoiT unterstützte die israelische Bank dabei, die Vorgaben der Bank of Israel auf Google Cloud umzusetzen – mit GKE-Autoscaling, KMS-Verschlüsselung und BigQuery-Monitoring.
Discount Bank brauchte die Zustimmung der Bank of Israel, um die PayBox-workloads in der Cloud zu betreiben, und musste dabei strenge Sicherheitsanforderungen der Bankenbranche erfüllen. Die übernommene Start-up-App sollte Enterprise-Sicherheitsfunktionen erhalten, ohne ihre Agilität und Innovationskraft zu verlieren.
Gemeinsam mit DoiT International führte Discount Bank Zwei-Faktor-Authentifizierung, SSL-Zertifizierung und Datenbankverschlüsselung über den Key Management Service in Verbindung mit Google Kubernetes Engine ein. Compute Engine übernimmt regulatorische Snapshots, BigQuery das Transaktions-Monitoring und GKE Continuous Deployment sowie automatische Skalierung.
Wir nutzen BigQuery, um sämtliche Abläufe zu überwachen. Dabei verarbeiten wir riesige Datenmengen, denn jede Transaktion erzeugt Hunderte Log-Zeilen. Wie schnell BigQuery daraus Reports erstellt, hat uns wirklich beeindruckt – ein hervorragendes Produkt.

Eine robuste und sichere Anwendung ist für jedes Unternehmen entscheidend – besonders, wenn große Transaktionsvolumen im Spiel sind. Gemeinsam mit DoiT International führte das PayBox-Team eine Zwei-Faktor-Authentifizierung beim Login, SSL-Zertifizierung sowie Datenbankverschlüsselung sensibler Daten über den Key Management Service in Verbindung mit Google Kubernetes Engine ein. So fügt sich PayBox nahtlos in das übergreifende Sicherheits-Ökosystem der Discount Bank ein. Die Persistent-Disk-Snapshot-Funktion in Compute Engine erleichtert die Einhaltung regulatorischer Vorgaben: Sie erstellt alle 15 Minuten Snapshots sämtlicher Transaktionen und bewahrt die Daten sieben Jahre lang auf.
Damit die Anwendung stets aktuell bleibt, setzt PayBox auf ein Continuous-Deployment-Modell auf GKE – täglich geht neuer Code live. Da die Infrastruktur mehrere Pods parallel bereitstellt, lassen sich auftretende Probleme leicht eingrenzen. GKE skaliert automatisch und fängt die Nachfragespitzen ab, mit denen PayBox umgehen muss. Der Traffic schwankt im Wochenverlauf – nachts und am Wochenende ist es deutlich ruhiger –, und saisonale Spitzen treten rund um Feiertage und zum Semesterbeginn auf. Eine Spitze kann 200 % mehr Traffic bedeuten, doch mit GKE lässt sich das zusätzliche Aufkommen problemlos stemmen.
PayBox setzt BigQuery ein, um den eigenen Service über die Analyse von Log-Daten zu überwachen. Dabei fallen enorme Datenmengen an, denn jede Transaktion erzeugt Hunderte Log-Zeilen. Wie schnell BigQuery aus diesem riesigen Datensatz Reports erstellt, hat das Team beeindruckt. Damit wichtige Dokumente und Informationen an einem zentralen Ort liegen, nutzt das PayBox-Team G-Suite-Dienste wie Gmail und Drive für alle PayBox-bezogenen Unterlagen.
Seit der Übernahme des PayBox-Geschäfts in Israel hat Discount Bank die Freigabe erhalten, PayBox als Teil der Bank zu betreiben, und die Nutzerbasis deutlich ausgebaut – von 120.000 auf über 1,5 Millionen. Die Zufriedenheit mit der PayBox-App ist hoch: Auf Google Play erreicht die Android-App eine Bewertung von 4,8 von 5 Sternen. Inzwischen erweitert die Bank den Funktionsumfang durch Partnerschaften mit großen Unternehmen – etwa, indem Nutzer ihre elektronische Rav-Kav-Verkehrskarte direkt in der App aufladen können.
