A Bringg precisava lidar com a preocupação de clientes que viam seu provedor de nuvem como um concorrente comercial. Era hora de migrar para um provedor mais independente sem comprometer a confiabilidade da plataforma para clientes do porte de Walmart e Coca-Cola, que não podiam se dar ao luxo de enfrentar downtime.

A Bringg se uniu à DoiT para migrar ao Google Cloud, com a infraestrutura apoiada no Google Kubernetes Engine. A gestão de infraestrutura passou a ser automatizada com Cloud SQL e Cloud Load Balancing, mantendo as práticas de CI/CD e a abordagem code-first.

O desafio

Em 2016, clientes importantes do varejo manifestaram preocupação por enxergarem o provedor de nuvem da Bringg como um concorrente comercial. Migrar para um provedor mais independente acalmaria os clientes e ainda abriria espaço para repaginar a infraestrutura. Para uma plataforma que atende marcas globais, a confiabilidade era inegociável — não dava para ter downtime.

Implementação do Google Kubernetes Engine

A Bringg estruturou sua infraestrutura no Google Kubernetes Engine em busca de estabilidade, escalabilidade e flexibilidade. Os serviços gerenciados permitiram automatizar mais, sem abrir mão da filosofia de CI/CD. Adotaram o Cloud SQL como solução de banco de dados e o Cloud Load Balancing para garantir um serviço fluido aos clientes globais. A plataforma trouxe flexibilidade para criar soluções sob medida, sem precisar recorrer a paliativos.

Parceria com a DoiT

A DoiT ajudou a Bringg a migrar para o Google Cloud sem interrupção de serviço, depois de uma colaboração anterior na integração do Google Maps. Após uma prova de conceito inicial em contas de staging, DoiT e Bringg moveram os clientes existentes para o Google Cloud sem sobressaltos. Segundo o CTO da Bringg, a migração foi simples e fluida, como apertar um botão.

Resultados e crescimento

Com o Google Cloud, a Bringg triplicou o negócio em 2018 e ainda reduziu custos de infraestrutura. A aposta em infrastructure-as-code e na automação do GKE manteve o esforço de gestão baixo, liberando os engineers para criar novos recursos, como entrega em lojas físicas e integração com frotas externas. A empresa ganhou 30% em eficiência com recursos de machine learning e levantou uma rodada Série C.

Inovação para o futuro

À medida que cresce e acumula mais dados, a Bringg está explorando o BigQuery para analytics e os produtos de Google Cloud Machine Learning para novas capacidades, como prever o tempo ocioso dos caminhões.
