Bdeo Achieves 25% Cost Reduction Through Strategic AWS Optimization with DoiT
Meet Bdeo
With its visual intelligence technology, Bdeo helps insurers use images to assess damage and estimate costs with speed and precisionโstreamlining claims and underwriting so teams can make faster, more informed decisions.
Founded in Spain in 2017, Bdeo now works with more than 50 companies across 28 countries, with offices in Spain, Mexico, the UK, France, and Italy.
The Challenge
With its AI-driven visual intelligence technology, Bdeo enables insurers to collect evidence digitally and automate key workflows, allowing them to estimate costs with speed and precision. This delivers a faster, more seamless experience for both insurance providers and policyholders.
Bdeoโs business grew rapidly during the pandemic, as insurers relied on its platform to gather evidence remotely. While this accelerated growth, it also introduced challenges around cost visibility and cloud efficiency. Rapid scaling can expose gaps in architecture design and create unit-economics blind spots.
Antonio David Fernandez Reyes, CTO at Bdeo, wanted greater clarity into the companyโs cloud spend to ensure growth remained sustainable and cost-efficient.
โWe were finding it difficult and time-consuming to measure our cloud costs in a clear, simple way. We needed visibility into which business areas and products were driving costs so we could make data-driven decisions to optimize them.โ

The Solution
Visualizing Cloud Spend Across the Organization with the DoiT Console
Bdeo began working with DoiT in 2023, leveraging DoiT Cloud Analytics and building custom dashboards to gain clearer insight into cloud costs and how to manage them effectively.
โOur DevOps engineers, ML Ops, and CIOโevery role related to our infrastructureโnow has a tool to visualize any cost in detail within five minutes. If we want to understand why costs are rising or which exact resource is responsible, we open the report, configure it, and within minutes we have the answer.โ
โ Antonio David Fernandez Reyes, CTO at Bdeo
Bdeo uses Allocations within the DoiT Platform to attribute costs to specific products and services, providing a clear view of complex cloud expenditures across the organization. This visibility enables the team to identify cost patterns, uncover inefficiencies, and eliminate unnecessary expensesโincluding an unused encryption service that was quickly decommissioned.
Previously, Bdeo experienced frequent false-positive anomaly alerts, incorrectly flagging cost spikes. Now, with Real-Time Anomaly Detection, unintended cost surges are accurately identified and accompanied by guided remediation recommendations. The result is fewer erroneous alerts and faster resolution of genuine cost issues.
Cutting the Cost of On-Demand Instances with Flexsave for Compute
Much of Bdeoโs Amazon EC2 usage is covered by AWS Reserved Instances, providing discounts for predictable workloads. However, some resources must scale dynamically, requiring on-demand pricing.
To optimize these flexible workloads, DoiT recommended Flexsave for Compute, which automatically identifies and applies discounted rates to EC2 workloads not covered by commitments. This delivered an additional 10% savings on Bdeoโs on-demand compute costs.
Working Together for Cost-Efficient Architecture
Bdeo also partnered with DoiT Cloud Reliability Engineers (CREs) to identify further efficiencies across its AWS environment. Given the companyโs heavy use of image and video data, optimizing storage tiering was a priority.
DoiT CREs collaborated closely with Bdeo to design an intelligent storage tiering strategy, balancing rapid access requirements with cost-effective pricing. The result was improved storage economics without compromising performance or availability.
Fernandez Reyes notes that โwhen we face complex or time-consuming challenges, we need an equally technical partner.โ He adds that DoiTโs engineers are โhighly knowledgeable, respond quickly, and go as deep as needed into any issue.โ
Optimizing Infrastructure with a Well-Architected Framework Review
As Bdeo gained greater cost visibility, it worked with DoiT CREs to analyze and optimize its AWS architecture for reliability, performance, and security through a Well-Architected Framework review.
โWe didnโt just want a certificateโwe wanted to understand where we could improve. It was extremely valuable, and we learned a great deal about our infrastructure across each pillar.โ
โ Antonio David Fernandez Reyes, CTO at Bdeo
Following the review, Bdeo implemented multiple security enhancements to reduce system vulnerability. The process also sharpened focus on workload health and AI processing performance, ensuring the infrastructure could scale while maintaining required performance benchmarks.
The Results
25% Reduction in Operational Costs
With DoiT Cloud Intelligenceโข, Bdeo connected cost visibility directly to business decisionsโreducing operational costs by 18% within the first three months and achieving a 25% overall reduction.
โSince working with DoiT, we have reduced our operational costs by 25%, even as our business has continued to grow. The DoiT Console was a hidden treasure. Previously, costs werenโt part of the decision-making process. Now, whenever we evaluate a new direction, we model the cost impact before making a decision.โ

Identifying and Eliminating Unnecessary Expenses
By surfacing unused and unnecessary services, Bdeo eliminated hidden wasteโincluding an unneeded encryption serviceโresulting in approximately $500 per month in savings.
14% Reduction in Overall Cloud Spend with Flexsave for Compute
With Flexsave for Computeโข automatically applying discounts to eligible on-demand EC2 workloads, Bdeo achieved approximately 10% savings on on-demand usage and a 14% reduction in overall cloud spend.
What's Next?
Expanding the Partnership to Support Scalable Cloud Architecture
As Bdeo continues optimizing cloud costs and working toward 100% workload tagging for full cost visibility, the partnership with DoiT is expanding to focus on strategic cloud architecture initiatives.
Bdeo is developing real-time AI insights that guide users on image quality and provide instant recommendations for improvement. To support these innovations, Bdeo is consulting with DoiT Cloud Reliability Engineers (CREs) to design the right architectural approachโbalancing developer experience, performance at scale, and cost efficiency.
โDoiT provides us with ongoing, high-level technical support for our cloud infrastructure. With the DoiT Console, we can clearly visualize the cost impact of any path we choose. As we move forward with our transformation projects and technology objectives, DoiTโs expertise will continue to play a critical role in our growth.โ
