From complex models to clear insight: How Skyral drives FinOps maturity with DoiT Cloud Intelligence™
Meet Skyral
Skyral is a UK-based modeling and simulation company whose flagship product empowers customers to make complex decisions by visualizing dynamic, real-world scenarios. Skyral’s platform renders simulations through a sophisticated front-end interface backed by a highly-interconnected web of cloud services, from civilian behavior in urban environments to crisis response modeling. As a data- and engineering-driven company, Skyral’s mission is to deliver performant, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure seamlessly.
The Challenge
As Skyral scaled its platform and customer base, its engineering enablement team, led by Senior Technical Manager Oliver Young, faced increasing challenges maintaining real-time visibility and governance guardrails across cloud infrastructure and spending. With multiple projects and usage patterns across customer environments, it became difficult to maintain a single, shared, real-time view of cloud costs, identify areas of inefficiency, and align allocation decisions and accountability across teams.
The Solution
By adopting DoiT Cloud Intelligence™, Skyral gained a FinOps solution combining real-time, precise cost analytics and embedded expertise and governance guardrails. DoiT worked closely with Skyral to surface granular cost reporting across teams and projects, enabling a shared, real-time understanding of spend and aligning usage with value and outcomes. The Allocations feature allowed for budget ownership and deeper accountability by associating cloud usage directly with internal teams and customer engagements. More than a product, DoiT connected Skyral with implementation partners and offered ongoing architectural guidance, operationalizing FinOps best practices as day-to-day workflows.
The Results
With enhanced visibility into utilization versus deployment, Skyral identified and resolved overprovisioned infrastructure, freeing engineering time and reducing monthly costs by approximately $5,000. DoiT’s reporting capabilities and Allocations also empowered Oliver’s team to accurately model customer usage patterns and forecast cloud demand, improving planning confidence and unit economics. These optimizations allowed Skyral to balance infrastructure performance with predictable unit economics, ensuring every dollar spent on the cloud maps to customer value.
What's Next?
As Skyral continues to grow, the company aims to expand its modeling capabilities and deepen customer insights, confident that its cloud foundation is scalable, cost-efficient, well-architected, and governed with real-time visibility. With DoiT Cloud Intelligence in place, Skyral is positioned to explore new use cases and markets with a single, shared, real-time view, without compromising financial governance or operational control.
